The most widely used method for predicting adult height, based on parental genetics:

  • Average both parents' heights
  • Add 6.5 cm (2.5 inches) for boys
  • Subtract 6.5 cm (2.5 inches) for girls
  • Apply ±8.5 cm genetic variation range
